BBR prestressing technology delivers stunning new landmark structure

ARENA Zagreb, a multi-purpose sporting, entertainment and conference venue with a total capacity of 24,000, has been realized with technology and expertise from BBR Adria, the BBR Network member in Croatia. The extraordinary design features 86 concrete lamellas surrounding the Arena to support the roof structure. The lamellas, prestressed using the BBR VT CONA CMI system, were prefabricated on site, lifted into position by crane and fixed to the building. The 100-125 m long steel cables supporting the entire 1,800 t roof structure were embedded and prestressed by BBR Adria. Completed on schedule, the Arena has already hosted the 2009 Men’s World Handball Championship.
