BBR Network strengthens three dams

BBR Technology helps to meet new seismic standards

To meet new seismic standards and requirements, BBR Technology is being used to strengthen dams in Australia and Norway.
At Western Australia’s Wellington Dam, the world’s largest ground anchors are being installed. These are equal in detail to those recently installed by BBR Network Member Structural Systems at Catagunya Dam, sharing a minimum breaking load of 25,389 kN. Anchoring works here also include the fabrication, transportation, installation, grouting, stressing and monitoring of the permanent ground anchors.
Meanwhile, at Tinaroo Falls Dam in Queensland, the use of BBR anchoring technology is not only providing enhanced safety, but is also delivering savings in terms of both cost and project duration when compared to mass concrete strengthening.Norway’s historical Svartediket Dam is being strengthened with the installation of 135 rock anchors, by BBR Network Member KB Spennteknikk, while continuing to fulfill normal water distribution load requirements.
